Conor McGregor Is Coming To India? MMA Legend Reveals He Will Box Logan Paul In Bout Organised By Ambani Family

MMA legend Conor McGregor, on Tuesday, announced that he will fight YouTuber and WWE star Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match in India. In an X post, the two-division UFC champion said that he has made a preliminary agreement for the bout with the Ambani family. Logan Paul also shared McGregor’s post on Instagram but an official announcement is yet to be made.

McGregor made the revelation while dismissing rumours of his UFC fight with Ilia Topuria, the current featherweight champion. Topuria recently defended his belt against Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway at UFC 308 in October and has been calling out McGregor for a fight. The two have also been engaged in trash talk on social media.

“The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon,” McGregor posted.

McGregor has said that he will return to the octagon after his boxing bout but experts doubt that will ever happen. UFC commentator and MMA expert Joe Rogan believes he will never return to fight again.

“I don’t know if Conor’s ever going to fight again. I don’t know the real details of that (assault) case. I know his version of it, and her version of it, and what played out in the court. But the reality is that guy’s partying. And he’s partying real hard. He talked about it in the court case. He was talking about cocaine,” Rogan said in his podcast recently.

The boxing match will mark his first visit to India whereas Paul recently came to Mumbai to promote his energy drink brand Prime. As for boxing, McGregor will step into the squared circle for the second time professionally, after his record-setting match against Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.

Logan Paul has also fought Mayweather which ended in a draw. Besides, he has a win over McGregor’s friend Dillon Danis, and a draw and a loss against KSI.

Both McGregor and Paul are expected to win big money from their match, considering the former’s fight purse ($130 million) in his bout against Mayweather.

Notably, McGregor enjoys popularity in India, one might say even more than Logan Paul when it comes to representing combat sports. The double-champ has even acknowledged India and Indian fighters on social media. In December 2021, McGregor cheered for India’s wrestler turned MMA fighter Ritu Phogat following her loss at One Championship.

“Hard luck today Ritu Phogat! A setback for a greater comeback! Let’s go Ritu! Let’s go India! We march on!” he posted.

But his popularity has taken a severe hit after he was found liable for assault of a woman, who also accused him of rape. Many gyms in Ireland even took down his posters and repainted his murals after he lost the case. However, McGregor has maintained he is not guilty.

“I am in amazing spirits! God has chosen me and I accept! Thank you to all those who have looked at this impartially and are supporting me in my fight for justice! The truth shall prevail! As God as my witness,” he posted on Tuesday.
