Zomato Charged 100 Bucks For Rs 10 Water Bottle At Concert? Company Reacts To Viral Tweet

A concert goer poured his grievance on social media over the ridiculously priced water bottle at a recent Bryan Adams’ gig in Hyderabad. At the venue, vendors were selling Rs 10 water bottles at an inflated price of Rs 100. Sharing the picture of the stock and his UPI bill, the user tagged Zomato over the gross violation of consumer rights.

Responding to the tweet, Zomato shrugged any responsibility over the predatory pricing of something as essential as water. The company stated that it was only the ticketing partner and not the event organizer.

Netizens were divided over the issue, with a few slamming the user for wasting money on such concerts. Others urged the user to sue the event organizers. “Concerts are a scam,” jibed one.

There’s nothing fancy or luxury about getting thirsty. Charging a premium for the same is unethical and inhuman at worst. Does Zomato care? Does the event organizer care? Does local administration or even other regulatory bodies care? Does anyone care? Expensive water bottles and the unavailability of loos are but a handful of several issues plaguing the entertainment industry right now, without redemptive measures in check. Anyone at any place at any time should be exempt from carrying their own water. Period.
